When will McCain and Obama announce their VP picks? The Olympics will be from August 8th to August 24th. I'm guessing they won't announce then. The Democratic National Convention will be from August 25th to August 27th. So Obama has from now until August 8th if he wants to announce before his convention and before the Olympics. The Republican National Convention will be from September 1st to September 4th, so McCain has a little more time. Will their VP picks matter much? Maybe if they do something stupid.
